At Waypoint Church, we believe that following Jesus means putting our faith into action — loving our neighbours, caring for those in need, and standing alongside those facing hardship.
As a church, our desire is to be part of God’s work both locally and globally, sharing the hope and compassion of Jesus through prayer, practical support and meaningful partnerships.
We currently support and work alongside Open Doors, YMCA Bournemouth and FaithWorks Foodbank.
Open Doors – Standing with the Persecuted Church
Open Doors is an international Christian ministry supporting those who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus. Across the world, millions of Christians face discrimination, hostility and hardship simply because they choose to follow Christ.
Open Doors works alongside local churches and believers, providing practical support including Bibles, discipleship resources, leadership training, advocacy and encouragement.
At Waypoint Church, we support the work of Open Doors and stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters through prayer, awareness and financial giving.
The Bible reminds us:
“Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
Hebrews 13:3
Through Open Doors, we join with the worldwide church in reminding persecuted Christians that they are seen, remembered and not alone.
YMCA Bournemouth – Supporting and Strengthening Our Community
YMCA Bournemouth is part of an inclusive Christian movement working to transform communities so that everyone can belong, contribute and thrive.
Through a wide range of services, YMCA Bournemouth supports people across the local area through accommodation, youth projects, family support, wellbeing programmes and opportunities for positive change.
Their work helps some of the most vulnerable people in our community, including those facing homelessness or difficult circumstances, providing practical support, encouragement and hope for the future.
The YMCA Chaplaincy service also works alongside churches and organisations across BCP, offering spiritual support and pastoral care for residents, staff, volunteers and the wider community.
Waypoint Food Bank – Showing Love in Practical Ways
As part of our local mission, Waypoint Church is privileged to partner with FaithWorks as a Foodbank satellite location, helping provide essential support to individuals and families in our community.
Our Food Bank is open every Friday from 9am – 12pm, offering food, support, friendship and a warm welcome. The challenges faced by people in our community are varied, and the increasing pressures of everyday life mean more people are finding themselves in need of help.
Through the dedication of our volunteers, we seek to create a place where everyone is treated with kindness, dignity and compassion.
If you need a food parcel, you will require a referral from a health or social care professional, Citizens Advice, or another approved referral partner. This helps ensure support reaches those who need it most.
